WATERTOWN, NY — Mary L. Kaler, 73, Watertown, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
She was born Jan. 30, 1947, in Watertown, the daughter to the late Albert C. and Isabel Jobson Kaler.
Mary was a health care provider for several families in the Watertown area for several years.
A marriage to the father of her children, George Fox ended in a divorce. After the divorce and after they were remarried, they remained best friends. Mary always said that he still watched over her after he passed away in 2003. A marriage to Paul A. Doyle in 1987 ended in a divorce.
Mary is survived by a son, Joel (Nicole Avallone) Fox, Watertown; a daughter, Sherry (David) Reed, Watertown; eight grandchildren, Amber Bigelow, Christina Frederick, Randi Bigelow, Joel Fox, Jr., Nicolas Fox, Brittney Everts, Cassandra Fox and Skyler Bartholomew; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert (Andrea) Kaler, Jr.; four sisters, Elizabeth Collette, JoAnne Ostrom, Violet Watson, Dawn Froedtert; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband and best friend, George Fox, a brother Jack Hobson and a sister, Estella Kaler.
Mary enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, bingo, computer games and playing the NYS Lottery. She loved the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren; she would do anything to help them in need. “If you needed to borrow $20 and she only had $10 she would borrow the other $10 just to make sure she was able to help.”
Due to the pandemic services will be held privately for her family.
