ADAMS, NY —Â Maryanne O. Monica, 76, of Adams and formerly of Evans Mills, widow of Elmer Monica, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.
The funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown, with Pastor Albert Dowker of the Honeyville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in North Watertown Cemetery. Calling hours are prior to the service on Tuesday beginning at 12 noon.
She is survived by her son Alvin (Hyang) Roe, Watertown; daughters Marion (Richard) Duff, Lexington, KY and Penny (James) Luiz, Adams; her grandchildren Justin, Jordan, Corey, Alvin, Janelle, Dillion, Sarah, JaQuann, and JaTasia; seven great grandchildren Illeonna, Emma, Roukous, Ralo, Isaac, Beau, and Lucas; four sisters Nellie Williams, Adams, Delta (Roland) Kampnich, Croghan, Donna (Jonas) Hobbs, Mannsville, Brenda (Jim) Lee, Chaumont; her brother Raymond Sprague, Lorraine; brother-in-law David Baltz; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother, Orissa Berry Wilson Sprague and father, Warren Wilson; husband, Elmer Monica; siblings Kenneth, Rosie, Donald and Wanda and her step-father Ronald Sprague.
Maryanne was born May 2, 1946, in the town of Ellisburg, a daughter to Warren Wilson and Orissa Berry Wilson.
She worked at Northland Electric and the New York Air Brake for over 20 years.
Maryanne’s three children were born of her marriage to Alvin F Roe Jr. which later ended in divorce. In 1990 she married Elmer Monica and lived happily until his passing in 2011. Most recently Maryanne was reunited with Alvin and they
were life partners until her passing.
Maryanne loved old country music, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, and Hank Sr. Inher younger years she enjoyed dancing. She enjoyed fishing and loved a game of bingo as well as doing a variety of crafts. After the loss of her husband, she joined the Watertown Eagles Club and the American Legion. A dog lover, she had many during her life, but Teddy, Jack and Babe are lost with her departure.
