Mountain Community Homes and Fort Drum Fire Department to host annual Firefighter for a Day event

FORT DRUM, NY – In support of Fire Prevention Week, each year Mountain Community Homes teams up with the Fort Drum Fire Department to give service members and families the unique opportunity to test their fire safety skills during the annual Firefighter for a Day event. Held at Fire Station 2, the event will provide a night filled with fun, food and more importantly, education. Additionally, in coordination with the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), an exclusive hour will be held from the event for children with special needs.

Free to all residents, service members and families of Fort Drum, the evening events will include a guided tour of the fire house, an opportunity to sit on a firetruck, experience a fire extinguisher simulator, try on firefighter gear, meet Big Al, along with enjoy a fire hose game, bounce house and giveaways.

Date: Wednesday, October 9

Time: 4:00-5:00pm (Exclusive hour for children with special needs)

           5:00-7:00pm (Open to the Fort Drum community)

Location: Fire Station 2, 1585 Ontario Avenue (Gas Alley)
