Nancy N. Lucas, 79, Brantingham

BRANTINGHAM, NY – Nancy Noel Lucas (nee Shaffer), 79, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2019 at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse.

She was born on Dec. 26, 1939, in Summit, NJ, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Lillian Shaffer (nee Donovan). Nancy grew up in Berkeley Heights, NJ, and raised her family in New Providence, NJ.

Nancy was a secretary at Kemper Insurance Company in Summit, NJ before moving to Brantingham where she worked at Lewis County General Hospital for more than 20 years as a switch board operator.

After retirement, Nancy enjoyed family time, the outdoors and always looked forward to her annual vacation in Ocean Grove, NJ with her fiancé Ed Moore.  Nancy was very proud of her Native American and Irish heritage and always shared the history with family and friends.

Nancy is survived by her fiancé, Edward Moore; her sons, Timothy W. (Cindy) McMahon, Michael K. McMahon (Thomas Calender) and Jeffrey R. (Debbie) McMahon; her grandsons, Jeffrey J. McMahon and Cole and Grey McMahon. She is also survived by her fiancés son, Edward Moore Jr. (Miriam) and grandchildren Ethan and Allyssia.

She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Lillian, and two sisters, Joyce Stype and Susan Richmond.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at the Sundquist Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Herrmann, Pastor of Lowville United Methodist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Brantingham Cemetery.
