Nelson G. “Guy” DeLaMarter, 71, Clayton

CLAYTON, NY — Nelson G. “Guy” DeLaMarter, 71, of Clayton, died Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Samaritan Medical Center. He resided at the Samaritan Keep Home for the past eight years due to Alzheimer’s.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home, Clayton, followed by a private funeral service.

Guy was born, Sept. 30, 1949, in Utica, the son of Nelson F. and Betty Evans DeLaMarter. He graduated from New York Mills School and attended Morrisville College for a time.

On April 4, 1977, he married Debra Misiaszek in Whitesboro.

Guy worked for a time at Marcy State Hospital. After moving to Clayton, he worked as a car salesman for Drum Honda in Watertown, retiring in 2006.

He was a former member of the Clayton Lions Club, the Men’s Wednesday Night Twilight Golf League, and Colon Couch Post 821 Sons of the American Legion.

Guy enjoyed boating, fishing, deer hunting, bowling, golfing, and was an avid Jimmy Buffett fan.

Surviving besides his wife Debra, is his daughter from a previous marriage, Suzanne DeLaMarter (Marc) Quigley of Santee, California; three sisters, Linda DeLaMarter (William) Murphy of Clayton, Michele DeLaMarter (Terry) Lockwood of Whitehouse, Texas, and Lorraine DeLaMarter (Andrew) Pearson, Colebrook, New Hampshire; and a God Daughter, Bryn Pearson; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank all the people on the 6th and 7th floors of Samaritan of Keep home, for all the care and help given to Guy and his wife., and also a very special thanks to Dr. Rush.
