New superintendent of South Jefferson School District announced

ADAMS, NY — The South Jefferson Board of Education is pleased to announce that at our July 27, 2022, meeting, Mrs. Christina Chamberlain was appointed as the next Superintendent of the South Jefferson Central School District. The appointment is effective January 1, 2023.

Mrs. Chamberlain currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction at Indian River Central School District, Philadelphia, NY. Prior to that, she served as PreK-12 Curriculum Director, Assistant Supervisor of Federal Programs and Special Education, and a High School Special Education Teacher at Indian River Central School District.

Mrs. Chamberlain is a graduate of Syracuse University where she earned her BA in English and Textual Studies. She received her Masters in Education from LeMoyne College and earned her Certificate of Advanced Study in Building and District Leadership from SUNY Oswego. Mrs. Chamberlain has been a participant as well as a presenter for professional development at the regional, state and national levels.

Mrs. Chamberlain is a long time resident of Jefferson County, moving to the South Jefferson district in 2006. Mrs. Chamberlain lives in Worth with her family. Following her appointment, Mrs. Chamberlain stated she “is excited and honored to serve the students, families, community, and South Jefferson Board of Education as your next Superintendent of Schools.”

The Board of Education would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the assistance of Jefferson-Lewis- Hamilton-Herkimer-Oneida BOCES District Superintendent Mr. Stephen Todd and his staff for their time and efforts in organizing applicant packets, developing our time line and interview schedules, and advising us on procedure.

The Board wishes to thank those members of the faculty, staff, student body and community who took the time to provide the Board with comments on each of our candidates. This input was very helpful as we worked to finalize this important decision. We appreciate your patience with us as we navigated multiple scheduling conflicts due to holidays, vacations, and conferences to finalize our process.
