Nicholas J. Ferguson, 27, Lowville

LOWVILLE, NY — Nicholas J. Ferguson, 27, of Tillman Road, Lowville, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse.

Nicholas was born on April 27, 1995, in Lowville, NY, a son of the late David G. Ferguson and Marie E. Boliver Ferguson. He attended grade school at St. Peter’s Catholic School in Lowville and was also home schooled for several years. Nicholas graduated from Beaver River Central School in the Class of 2013. While in school, he played Pop Warner football in his youth. He played modified and varsity football for Beaver River.

Upon graduation, he was hired by B & H Sawing in Castorland, where he was employed for several years before going to work for Omniafiltra, in Beaver Falls. Nicholas was just recently hired for a position at Fort Drum.

He was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan, where he received all of his Sacraments.

Nicholas was known for his tremendous work ethic, amongst family, friends and coworkers. He was dedicated not only to his places of employment but exhibited dedication to helping any and everyone, especially his family.

Nicholas enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dog Riley; he was also quite the jokester as well as a great storyteller. Nicholas loved to play games, especially Stratego, Monopoly, Cornhole, Can-Jam and many other backyard games. He was very competitive, and was passionate about football and basketball, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his late father David and his brother Ben.

He is survived by his mother, Marie E. Ferguson; his siblings, Benjamin L. Ferguson and his companion, Rachel Haskins; Abigail R. and Damian Olley and their daughter, Samantha, of Natural Bridge; Elena M. and Shaun Olley and their daughters, Olivia and Laila of Natural Bridge; and Mikayla B. Ferguson of Lowville; several aunts, uncles and many cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, David G. Ferguson, who passed away on Dec. 16, 2013; his maternal grandparents, Bernard and Bernadette Boliver; paternal grandparents, Rosalie and Richard Ames; an uncle, Kevin J. Boliver, and two cousins, Aaron J. Lehman and Christina M. Boliver.

A Funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2022, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Donald Manfred, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan. A luncheon at St. Stephen’s Church Parish Hall will immediately follow the burial, all are welcome.
