Nichole S. Brown, 48, Croghan

CROGHAN, NY – Nicole S. Brown, 48, of State Route 812, Croghan, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 19, 2021, at her home under the loving care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

A funeral Mass will be said noon Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan with Rev. Donald Manfred, pastor, officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Bremen.

She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Phil; three sons, Zackary P., Trey J., and Chase A. Brown; her mother, Evelyn Weatherhead of Morristown, TN; her father, Bradley Brouty of Catorland, her mother-in-law, Nancy Brown and the Brown family; a step-brother, Bryan Westherhead of Plattsburgh; a step-sister, Amy and Matthew “Skippy” Moore of Castorland; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; her best friend since sixth grade, Gloria Queen and her husband Gene.

Nicole was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Glenn and Lucretia Brouty; her step-father, Richard Weatherhead; her father-in-law, Philip A. Brown, Sr., and her cousin, Heather Anderson.

Born May 20, 1973, in Lowville, NY, a daughter of Bradley Brouty and Evelyn Shultz Brouty Weatherhead, she graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1991. While in school, she attended Howard G. Sackett Educational Center (B.O.C.E.S.) for Merchandise and Display. Nicole then attended Jefferson Community College for Medical Office Technology, graduating in 1993. Nicole worked in various positions before her marriage.

On July 8, 1995, she married Philip A. Brown Jr. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville, with Msgr. Bernard Christman officiating.

Nichole was a mother and homemaker before going working as a secretary at Beaver River Central School for 11 years, until becoming ill.

Nicole was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan.  She enjoyed going to Turning Stone Casino. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
