Northern Credit Union announces opening date for eighth relationship center in Croghan

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  – Northern Credit Union is proud to announce their eighth relationship center will open in Croghan on Tuesday, May 21, with hours of Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturdays, 9:00am to 12:00pm.

“Our presence in the community in the past three weeks has been very well received. We’ve met many enthusiastic Northern supporters and community members and have benefitted from a number of insightful conversations with a
host of people. We’ve opened over 100 personal accounts, 15 business accounts and originated $1.6 million in loans for new and existing members at our temporary, Croghan Fire Hall location. We appreciate the support from the community as we have grown from 1,200 Croghan area members to over 1,300 in less than three weeks,” said Dan St. Hilaire, President/CEO of Northern Credit Union.

We understand, as change occurs in a community it can create feelings of loss, nostalgia or confusion. We recognize Croghan is extremely proud of its history and community connections and are aware of the anxiousness that unannounced plans may have on its people. For this reason, we want the community to know that the Credit Union is under contract to purchase the former home of Jim and Kate Marilley, currently owned by Bryson and Melissa Lyndaker. This parcel will be utilized to create 22 proposed parking spaces along with access to a drive-thru personal teller/ATM behind the relationship center. It is important for us to provide off-street parking for our members’ and neighboring businesses’ convenience. It is not our desire to have our member traffic potentially take away on-street parking from other Main Street businesses.

To provide further clarity, we have attached a draft proposed site plan slated to be submitted to the Town of Croghan Planning Board on Monday, May 20, 2019.

Please note, in terms with our lease agreement for the historic Marilley building, we have absolutely no plans to demolish the residential portion of the building. In fact, we plan to keep and showcase the Marilley sign in our lobby, preserve and utilize the wood credenza counter, refinish the hardwood floors and refurbish the magnificent staircase.

We also plan to design the interior with the look and feel of the Adirondack Foothills region, using wood, soft natural colors and textures straight from nature.

The new relationship center will be led by Croghan native Kimberly Meyer. Kimberly’s team will include other Croghan natives including Sharon Widrick, Sadie Delles and one other experienced individual we will announce shortly. The entire Croghan-based team is looking forward to serving the community and earning your trust to choose Northern Credit Union as your financial institution.

The Credit Union will operate on the following dates and times:
May 1 – May 16 and May 20 at the Croghan Fire Hall
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00pm – 5:00pm
Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00am – 11:00am
May 21 onward at Northern’s Croghan Relationship Center (Marilley Building)
