HARRISVILLE, NY — State Police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on State Route 3 in the town of Diana, Lewis County.
On Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at approximately 4:40 p.m., a 2010 Ford pickup truck, operated by Kevin W. Martin, 63, Carthage, NY, was traveling south on State Route 3 when he noticed a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, operated by Dylan C. Richards, 19, Harrisville, NY, that was traveling north on State Route 3, cross over into his lane in an attempt to pass another uninvolved vehicle, troopers said.
Martin swerved his vehicle in an attempt to avoid striking the Jeep, however, the Jeep struck his vehicle head-on, troopers said.
Dylan C. Richards was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Martin and a 63-year-old passenger, Robert Ayers, were transported to Carthage Area Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is continuing, troopers said.
