NYSP: DeKalb man arrested for illegal gun possession

LISBON, NY —  On Aug. 13, 2021, State Police charged 35-year old Matthew W. Hopper of Dekalb, NY, with Criminal Possession of a Weapon second-degree, a class C felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon third-degree, a class D Felony,  and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance seventh-degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Hopper was a passenger in a motor vehicle that was stopped by troopers in the town of Lisbon for a possible vehicle and traffic violation.

During a search of the vehicle, Hopper was allegedly found to be in possession of a 9mm “ghost gun” with a Glock model 26 slide and a barrel. Troopers also recovered an additional two magazines for the firearm, each loaded with 10 rounds, a silencer, and a quantity of suboxone.

Hopper was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and released to the supervision of Probation. He is due back in Lisbon Town Court at a future date.
