NYSP identify Lowville fire victims

LOWVILLE, NY —  The New York State Police , in conjunction with the Village of Lowville Police Department, Lewis County Sheriff’s  Department, New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control and the Lewis County District Attorney’s Office are continuing the investigation into the double fatal house fire that occurred at 7525 South State Street in the Village of Lowville on November 30, 2019.

The deceased victims have been identified as :
Catherine A. Crego, age 58, of 7525 South Street Apt # 2, Lowville, NY
Saratina R. Kilbourne, age 42, 7539 South State Street, Apt # 1, Lowville, NY

Autopsies were conducted at Albany Medical Center and both victims’ cause of death has been listed as ”Asphyxia” as a consequence of smoke and heated products of combustion, troopers said.

The surviving victim, Brian S. Mushtare, age 60, of 7525 South State Street Apt. # 3, Lowville, NY was treated for smoke inhalation, lacerations, and minor burns. He was treated at Lewis County General Hospital and has since been released.
