NYSP: LaFargeville man arrested following a traffic pursuit and crash

EVANS MILLS, NY —  On May 26, 2023, at 1:45 p.m., State Police in Watertown responded to a larceny/burglary complaint at Walmart on State Route 11 in the town of LeRay.

When Troopers arrived, they located the suspect vehicle, a 2007 Toyota Yaris, and attempted to stop it. The driver, later identified as Anthony Gallo refused to comply and a traffic pursuit was initiated. The pursuit was terminated when the suspect vehicle reached speeds of over 100 mph. Shortly after, the suspect vehicle was located off the road on State Route 342, after it crashed through two signs and into a concrete barrier. The driver was transported to Samaritan Medical Center by Evans Mills Ambulance for shoulder pain.

Anthony M. Gallo, age 41, from LaFargeville, NY, was arrested for Burglary third-degree, a class “D” felony; Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, a class “A” misdemeanor; and DWAI-Drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Gallo was transported to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building for evening CAP Court arraignment and was remanded to the Jefferson County Jail with no bail.  He is scheduled to appear at LeRay Town Court on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
