NYSP: Lewis County woman arrested following a joint investigation with the NYS Justice Center

LOWVILLE, NY —  State Police arrested Heather L. Race, 40, West Leyden, NY, for third-degree grand larceny (a class D felony), first-degree offering a false instrument for filing (a class E felony), and first-degree falsifying business records (a class E felony).

Ms. Race is employed by the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) in Oneida County.  The NYS Justice Center conducted an investigation into Race making false abuse reports against herself in order to collect paid administrative leave while the abuse allegation was conducted.  The investigation determined that Ms. Race made a false anonymous abuse report against herself – resulting in eight weeks of paid administrative leave.  The salary amount of this administrative leave was determined to be $6,934.76.

Ms. Race was arraigned in Lewis County and released on her own recognizance.
