NYSP: Man arrested for stealing thousands of dollars of merchandise from Home Depot stores by creating barcodes for lower amount items

NORTH SYRACUSE —  On April 3, 2021, State Police in North Syracuse arrested Jeffrey G. Gordon, age 37, from Syracuse, NY, for (3) counts of Grand Larceny fourth-degree, a class “E” felony, and (1) count of Petit Larceny, a class “A” misdemeanor.

The Home Depot Loss Prevention Office in Camillus contacted State Police after they discovered that Mr. Gordon was creating barcodes for lower amount items, scanning the fake barcodes at the self-checkout, and paying the fraudulently lower prices, troopers said.

An investigation determined Mr. Gordon had done this 28 times from November 2020 until February 2021, in Dewitt, Camillus, Clay, Cicero, Auburn, and Watertown, troopers said.  The total amount of theft across all counties and townships is approximately $10,000.

Gordon was processed at SP North Syracuse and released on appearance tickets.
