Ogdensburg police: Shots fired complaint leads to search warrants and arrest

OGDENSBURG, NY  —  On the date of Dec. 31, 2022, members of the Ogdensburg Police Department responded to the 400 block of Oak Street, for the sound of a gunshot after hearing a verbal altercation.

An investigation was opened which resulted in a search warrant to be executed on 418 Oak St., Ogdensburg, NY. The search into the aforementioned residence led the investigation to another address with in the city.

Upon further investigation members of the Ogdensburg Police Department executed a second search warrant into the residence of 309 King Street, where three guns were located and seized. The said guns were a 9mm handgun, 20 gauge shotgun and an assault rifle.

The Ogdensburg Police Department was also assisted by the St. Lawrence County Sherriff’sOoffice along with chief confidential investigator Daniel Mousaw from the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office.

Matthew R. Bowman, 39, of 309 King St., Ogdensburg, NY, was arrested on Jan. 2, 2023, for criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a “D” felony.

Mr. Bowman was arraigned at Ogdensburg City Court and released on his own recognizance.
