Patricia J. Schmitte, 67, Brownville

BROWNVILLE, NY — Patricia J. Schmitte, 67, Brownville, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, where she had been receiving skilled care, for the past three months.

Born Sept. 29, 1950, in Watertown, the daughter of Wayne and Nadine McIntosh Bolton, she graduated in 1969 from Watertown High School and later attended Jefferson Community College and then Monroe Community College.

She married Edison Mack in September 1974 and had three children. Following their divorce, she married Terry J. Schmitte on March 30, 2001. Terry passed away Feb. 14, 2014.

She was an avid reader, very artistic, and was athletic. Her children are fortunate that she passed on many of those abilities on to them. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a unique sense of humor and a sarcastic personality that was an asset throughout her life, especially when battling the cancer that stole her health but not her moxie.

Patricia was a clerk for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at the Public Safety Building from 1993 until her retirement in 2012. Some of her duties included working reception at the main lobby and assisting the public with pistol permits. Prior to this, she cleaned homes for many folks in the Watertown area. After high school, she worked as a secretary at Rutland Hills Dairy where her father was a manager.

Surviving are her three children; Rebecca and William Fairchild of Adams Center, Joshua Mack of Brownville and Emily Mack and her fiancé Paul Young of Watertown. She has three stepchildren; Josh and Tonya Schmitte of Dexter, Shain Schmitte of Henrietta, and Dayna and Timothy Webb of Dexter. She has fourteen grandchildren, which include her step-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Diane (Alfred) Landon of Liverpool, and Marcia Lamont of Gray, Maine and two sister in laws; Darcy Thomas of Brownville and Christine Bolton of Baldwinsville. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was predeceased by a brother, James Bolton, and her mother and father.

There will be calling hours from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dexter followed by burial in Brownville Cemetery.
