DENMARK — Paul E. Getman, 69, of State Route 26, Denmark, passed away early Saturday morning, Nov. 10, 2018, at SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse.
Calling hours will be held 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, followed immediately by a funeral service at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating. Burial will take place in Lowville Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Paul was born Aug. 22, 1949, in Lowville, NY. He was the son of the late Donald C. Getman and Mavis LaFlair and the stepson of Joseph Szalkowski. Paul graduated from Lowville Academy in 1968 and attended Canton ATC.
He worked at AMF in Lowville for a short time prior to his marriage.
On Sept. 14, 1974, Paul married Mary Anna at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Boonville, NY with Father Nortz officiating.
Paul worked at Climax Manufacturing, Carthage, from 1974 until his retirement in 2011.
Paul was a former long-time member of the Castorland Fire Department.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, golfing, snowmobiling, and riding his motorcycle.
He was also known for his playful sense of humor. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and he will be dearly missed.
Paul is survived by his wife of over 44 years, Mary; four children and their partners, Edward Getman and wife Hee Jin Kim, Princeton, NJ, Lisa Getman and Stephen Powroznik, Daryl and Michelle Maciuska, Brockport, NY, and Tricia and David Norton, Utica, NY; two brothers and their wives, Donald and Valerie Getman, New Bremen, NY, and George and Theresa Getman, Denmark; six grandchildren, an aunt, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
