Peggy I. Wood, 73, Adams

ADAMS, NY — Peggy I. Wood, 73, Adams, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019, at her home while under the care of Peanut her cat, her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, July 9, at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Calling hours will precede the service from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

Peggy was born in Pierrepont Manor, April 21, 1946, a daughter to Bernard and Doris Adams Sampson.

She worked for Bomax, Watertown, several bars and restaurants in the Adams area and she retired from Rod’s Big M as the head baker after working there for several years.

She is survived by her children, Gina (Bill Finch) Albrecht, Richland; Arlene (Joe McMullen) Halsey, Adams; Richard (Billie Jo) Wood, Orwell; a sister, Barbara Vann, Belleville; a brother, Bernard (Terry) Sampson, Indiana; five step-brothers, Robert (Louise) Cooper, Thomas (Edna) Cooper, Paul (Sue) Cooper, Walter Cooper, Michael Cooper, step-sister Sandra Kavney; grandchildren, Amy (Bobby) Hatch, Kyle Finch, JonMichael Halsey, Michael Wood, Matthew Wood, Kyle Wood, Steven Wood; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents Peggy was predeceased by her step-mothers, Edna Sampson and Elva Sampson and her 2 brothers, Richard and Jimmy Sampson.

Peggy enjoyed bowling, crocheting, playing games on her tablet and spending time with her family making many fond memories.

She was a lifetime member of the Adams American Legion, VFW and the AAHA Club.

A reception will follow the service at the Adams American Legion.
