Philip R. Thomas, 76, Redwood

REDWOOD, NY – Philip R. Thomas, 76, of County Route 192, Redwood, passed away on Sunday morning, Sept. 1, 2019, at Upstate Medical University.

Born Aug. 23, 1943, in Alexandria Bay, NY, a son to the late Charles L. and Neoma (Brown) Thomas, he attended school in Alexandria Bay and went on to work as a boat mechanic at O’Brien Boats for almost 60 years.

On Dec. 31, 2013, Philip married Jeanne Shoulette. Jeanne passed away in January of this year.

Philip loved to go fishing and boating on the St. Lawrence River, he enjoyed woodworking and making little knick knacks. Philip enjoyed gambling as well.

He is survived by his “step” children, Lisa Humphrey, Redwood, NY; Michael Humphrey, Redwood, NY; Carrie (Todd) Evans, Athens, Ont.; Heather (Jessie) Scheer, Philadelphia, NY; three brothers, Peter (Sandra) Thomas, Alexandria Bay, NY; Merritt (Marhta) Thomas, Alexandria Bay, NY; Gary Thomas, Alexandria Bay, NY; four grandchildren, Zachery Evans, Kiana Evans, Meagan Bennett, Taylor Scheer; four great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews, Shanna Thomas, Peter Thomas, Kelly Hibbert, Merritt Thomas, David Thomas, John Thomas, and Troy Thomas.

Philip is predeceased by a sister, Louise Thomas and a brother, Bill Thomas.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place 1 p.m. Sept. 21, 2019, at the Redwood Fire Department, 43676 Stine Rd, Redwood.
