Timothy J. Akin, 55, of 589 W. Prospect St., Apt. 2, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at 589 W. Prospect St. with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment. Mr. Akin is accused of kicking Elaine L. Covey, 29, in her left thigh, grabbed a cell phone from her, and threw it to the ground in an attempt to prevent from making an emergency call about 1:00 p.m. Sunday at 589 W. Prospect St., Apt. 1, according to court documents. He was additionally charged with second-degree strangulation, a felony, two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor and a single count of second-degree harassment. Mr. Akin allegedly placed both of his hands around the neck of Sharlene M. Teeter, 57, and applied pressure causing her to lose the ability to breath which made her light-headed and dizzy at about 1:00 p.m. Sunday at 589 W. Prospect St., Apt. 1, according to court documents. He also allegedly spit in her face, grabbed a necklace valued at $175 from her neck causing it to break and damaged her cell phone valued at $190 by throwing it against the ground causing the screen to break during the domestic incident, police said. He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.
Sharon K. Pierce, 69, of 25359 Ridge Road, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Ms. Pierce is accused of concealing Differin Dark Spot Correcting Serum valued at $21.99 in her purse and exited Kinney Drugs, 905 Coffeen St., without attempting to pay at about 11:54 a.m. Aug. 21, according to court documents. She is summoned to appear Sept. 17 in City Court.
Logan Cofield IV, 31, of 24098 State Route 12, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at 1815 Olmsted Dr. with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor. Mr. Cofield is accused of violating the terms of valid stay-away order of protection when he was found staying at the residence of the protected party, Eccron E. Nieves, 35, while she was also present at the residence at about 8:00 a.m. Saturday at 1815 Olmsted Dr., according to court documents. He was also arrested on a bench warrant. He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.
Marks G. Norton, 41, of 555 Mill St., upper apt., Watertown, was arrested at 4:22 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at 555 Mill St. on two bench warrants, according to the Watertown Police Department. He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment.

Brooklynn M. Batsford, 18, of 24459 US Route 11, town of LeRay, was arrested at 6:57 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on a warrant, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. She was arraigned in Adams Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She is ordered to appear Sept. 2 in town of Watertown Court to answer the petit larceny charge, deputies said.

Alice C. Gokey, 51, Glenfield, was charged by state police at 2:14 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, in the town of Rodman with driving while intoxicated. A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Troopers did not provide her BAC. She is summoned to appear in Rodman Town Court at a later date.
Dale L. Timmerman, 28, Redwood, was charged by state police at 7:52 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, in the town of Alexandria with felony driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a serious personal injury accident, a felony. Troopers did not provide further details of the arrest.
