Police: Watertown man choked woman, possessed firearm and three ammo clips

WATERTOWN, NY —  Sergio Cardenas Jr., 37, of 229 Clinton St., Apt. B, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 6:33 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at his residence with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment.

He is accused of grabbing Naomi Anelapumehang C. Hart, 33, by her throat and squeezed causing her to have difficulty breathing during a domestic incident at about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday at 229 Clinton St., Apt. B, police said. He also allegedly shoved her during the incident, according to court documents.

He was additionally charged with three felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon – ammo clip, and a single felony count of three-degree criminal possession of a firearm. Police said he possessed a Springfield XDM-9 handgun and three ammo clips.

He was being held pending arraignment Wednesday morning in City Court.
