Ralph A. Green, Sr., 84, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Ralph A. Green, Sr., 84, Watertown, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019, at the Ellis Farm Hospice Residence surrounded by his family.

Born Jan. 2, 1935, in Rodman, NY, the son of Kenneth and Blanche Green, he graduated in 1962 from Adams Center High School where he played football and wrestled.

Upon graduation from high school, Ralph enlisted in the US Navy. After being honorably discharged, he attended the Watertown School of Commerce where he met his wife, Lu. Ralph was employed as a tax accountant for the NY State Department of Taxation and Finance and was a sales representative at Carthage Machine Corporation. After his retirement he managed Ryan’s Jet Gas Station for several years.

Ralph married Lulubelle Cring on April 12, 1958, at the First Methodist Church in Harrisville. They have resided at 22783 Cornwell Lane, Watertown, NY, all their married life.

Ralph was a member of First Presbyterian Church, BPOE 496 Elks, Town of Watertown Fire Department, Brownville American Legion and Highland Meadows Golf Club, where he was one of the original golfers of the “Over the Hill” golf league which began in 1999. He was a member of IAABO Basketball Officials, where he served as President, and he also served as supervisor for the Town of Watertown from 1991 to 1995.

Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. However, he will mostly be remembered for his sense of humor, storytelling and his love of family and friends.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Lu, his three sons and their wives, Michael Green (Mary), Montague, NY; Ralph Green, Jr., (Christine), Watertown, NY; and Scott Green (Jolie), Watertown, NY; a brother, Robert Green, Louisiana. Five grandchildren, Chadwick Green (Nicole), Malory Saki (Christopher), Eric Green, Skyler Green and Stephanie Green; and four great–grandchildren, Gabriel, Connor, Beckett and Elise.

Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Blanche Green, brothers, Stennett and Frank Green and sisters, Eloise Malady and Beverly Bibbins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church, 403 Washington St., Watertown, NY with the Rev. Casey Carbone officiating.
