Ralph C. Schueler, Sr., 92, Adams

ADAMS, NY —  Ralph C. Schueler, Sr., 92, a World War II veteran of Adams, passed away Oct. 2, 2019, at the Hospice Residence at the Ellis Farm, Gotham St., Watertown.

Ralph was a lifelong resident of New Jersey before relocating to Adams two years ago to be cared for by his loving family.  He was a kind, loving and generous soul who lived a good life, a life he was proud of. He believed in “family” above all else.

A graveside service with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, in the Sackets Harbor Military Cemetery.

Following the service a reception will be held at Good Fellos, 2020 W. Main Street, Sackets Harbor.  

Ralph is survived by his son, Ralph C. Schueler, Jr., Cape Vincent; sister, Charlotte LaTerra, NJ; six grandchildren, Sunshine (Jeremy) Peebles, Ryan Schueler, Ralph Schueler III, Tiger Schueler, John (Kristi) Schueler, Jeanine (Dean) Bisbano, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Alice, his wife Angelina, and daughter and son in law, Susan & Richard Elmer.

Ralph was born in West New York, NJ., May 16, 1927, a son to Charles and Alice Wilks Schueler. He had a smile that would light up the room, the moment he saw your face.  His heart was big and he cared even bigger.

He served in the US Navy during WWII, aboard the USS MACON, CA-132, a baltimore heavy cruiser.

He was honorably discharged in 1946 after winning the war and earning the American Theatre Medal and a Victory Medal.

He worked for 50 years as a carpenter for the Carpenter’s Union 253 in New Jersey.

Ralph married Angelina Spadafore June 19, 1948. They had two children together and were married for 51 years  before Angelina passed away in September of 1999. He lived out his life alongside his family and in his own words…”All In All, I’ve Lived A Really Good Life”
