Raymond A. Norman, 91, Alexandria Bay

ALEXANDRIA BAY, NY —  Raymond A. Norman, 91, of Margaret Avenue, formerly of Edwards, NY, passed away, Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at Hospice of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm, Watertown, NY.

Born Oct. 29, 1927, in College Point, Queens, NY, a son of Raymond A., Sr., and Dora LaRoche Norman, he attended school in Windsor Locks, CT.

In February 1946 he was drafted into the US Army. During this time, he was a diesel mechanic and he was honorably discharged in August of 1947.

Raymond married Alice Joyce Stover in June of 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Windsor Locks, CT. She died May 22, 2005.

He worked for Hamilton Standard, Windsor Locks, CT, as a mechanic for 22 years.

Then in 1973 the family moved to a farm on the River Rd. in Theresa, NY, until 1976 when they moved to Edwards, NY.

Raymond was a member of the Lyons Club in Edwards, NY and Ocala, FL. He was also a 22+ year member of the Edwards Volunteer Fire Department and Captain of the Fire Police.

He loved rebuilding antique cars and enjoyed carpentry, woodworking and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include three children; a daughter, Cecilia Yawn, Alexandria Bay, NY; two sons, Raymond A. Norman, III, Fortuna, CA, and Jude T. Norman, address unknown; two sisters, Barbara Bottomly, Southwick, MA, and Doris Bermani, NH; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents, his wife, a daughter, Gabrielle Callahan in 2004, and three brothers, Richard, Ernest and Arthur Norman, all died previously.

There will be no funeral or calling hours.
