Rebecca E. Springman, 104, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY —  Rebecca E. Springman, 104, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, while under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, at the New Hope Baptist Church, State Route 3, Watertown.

She was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Muncy PA; the daughter of the late Arthur and Jesse Artley Hall.

Rebecca married Lester L. Springman on Oct. 16, 1937. Lester passed away in 1982.

Rebecca worked in a silk mill for several years in Montoursville PA. In 1967 she moved to Birmingham, Alabama until 1982, she then moved back to Watertown. She lived on her own until a week before she passed, then going to live with her daughter.

She was a talented and gifted seamstress, sewing dresses for the residents at JRC, bridesmaid dresses for several weddings. If she wasn’t sewing, quilting, knitting, you could find her in her flower beds.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia (Arlow) Kiehl, Watertown; grandchildren, Curtis (Gigi) Kiehl, Christine (Gregg) Tefft, Clinton (Brandi) Kiehl, 14 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, a great-great-great grandchild and her cat “Tommy”.
