Registration for 4-H tractor safety program

LOWVILLE, NY —  Cornell Cooperative Extension of Lewis County is sponsoring a 4-H Youth Tractor Certification Course. Every employer of a young hired employee should consider this class for their present and summer help as federal law requires the certification program for any youth under the age of 16 who plans on operating a tractor off the property.

The National Safe Tractor & Machinery Operation program will be offered for youth between the ages of 14-15 years of age. Youth already certified in tractor operation are welcome to attend for a refresher course. Upon completing the training course, the youth will need to pass a written knowledge test and driving test to receive their certification.

The program is scheduled to run Tuesdays, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, April through May at various farm machinery dealerships throughout Lewis County.

The fee for this program is $10

The payment must be received to secure your registration.

Attendance is required at all classes for students to become certified. Please see the listed dates below.

Dates of Classes: Tuesdays, April 7, 14, 21, 28

Times: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Test Date: May 2nd

Location: varies with classes, call for complete schedule.

Cost: $10 (includes a student manual).
