Residential Health Care Facility in Lowville temporarily suspends visitation due to positive cases of COVID-19 among staff

LOWVILLE, NY ─ The Residential Health Care Facility (RHCF) has suspended visitation on all four floors of its facility, effective immediately, due to two staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) visitation guidelines, when a new case of COVID-19 among residents or staff is identified, the nursing home should immediately begin outbreak testing and suspend all visitation until at least one round of facility-wide testing is completed.

The RHCF continues to test staff weekly and has initiated outbreak testing for all residents. “This will allow us to identify the scope of the outbreak and if specific floors will have continued suspension of visitation,” stated Debra Wurz, Nursing Home Administrator.

The facility will keep you informed as we get more information and notify resident families and the community when any visitation can resume.

The complete NYSDOH guidelines are available on the health system’s website

Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience as we work to keep your family members, friends, and our Residential Health Care Facility staff safe.
