Richard Goutermout, 71, Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN, NY – Richard Goutermout, 71, of the town of Pinckney, died on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Carthage Area Hospital.

Born Dec. 19, 1947, in Lowville the son of the late Gardner C. and Dorothy Jane (Birchenough) Goutermout, he graduated in 1965 from Lowville Academy and Central School. He joined the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and was honorably discharged as a sergeant.

He married Linda J. Years on August 9, 2003 at the family reunion at Sid Goutermout’s camp with Justice of the Peace, Terry Brownell officiating.

Richard worked construction as a heavy equipment operator “dozer” for Tug Hill Construction for 24 years and retired from Lancaster Construction.

He was a life member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912 V.F.W. He loved going to Sid’s camp, hunting, fishing and the Green Bay Packers.

Dick is survived by his wife, Linda, his daughter, Lisa K. Goutermout; his step children, Janeen Tate and Jim Smith; six grandchildren, Megan Tate, Jeffrey Jr., Jori, Jayli, Jacob, and Ethan; and several cousins.

A brother, David Goutermout and his step-son, Jeff Hulbert, both died before him.

Calling hours for family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Sundquist Funeral Home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at the funeral home with Rev. Mr. Ronald Gingerich, Deacon, officiating. Military burial will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, New Boston.
