Richard J. Ward, 80, Harrisville

HARRISVILLE, NY — Richard John “Dick” Ward, 80, of Washington Street, Harrisville, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York.

Born May 12, 1940, in Fine, NY, a son of the late Duthan & Helen (Moote) Ward, he attended school in Clifton Fine.

He married Janet LaFave in 1960 at the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Harrisville, NY.

Dick worked for the Newton Falls Paper Mill for 30 years, retiring in 1989.

He is survived by his wife Janet and their children; Tammy Rabideau of Plattsburgh, Anna (Jim) Seymour, Harrisville, Brenda (Jamie) Stanley, Beaver Falls, Richard (Susan) Ward Jr., Harrisville, and Ralph (Amy) Ward, Fowler, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother Gary (Kim) Ward, Fine and sister Sandra (Lester) Babcock, Henderson.

Dick was predeceased by two children, John Ward and Robin Ward Bresett, his parents, Duthan and Helen Ward, a brother, James Ward, and a son-in-law, Roy Rabideau.

Dick was best known for his love of his family and the cherished times he spent together with his wife, children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, football & nascar.

Due to his wishes and the Covid-19 Pandemic there will be no calling hours.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined later by the family.
