Richard M. Garbutt, 63, Black River

BLACK RIVER, NY —  Richard M. Garbutt, 63, Black River, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.

Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. A prayer service will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in the Sanford Corners Cemetery, Calcium.

He is survived by his fiancé’ Patricia Burns; his children Adrienne Garbutt (Seth), Trina Desormeau-Flecker (Alex), both of Watertown, Joel Garbutt (Amber), FL, Christopher Garbutt (Janey), Watertown, Amanda Loomis, Black River, Kristi Loomis, Watertown, Jennifer Rush, TN, James Guyette, Black River; grandchildren Jacobie, Dominic and Kaitlin Flecker, Brock, Joel Garbutt Jr., Makayla Fiorentino, Jameir Desormeau, Jayanna Loomis, Caleb Desormeau; Pat’s children Jeff Burns and Joey Burns, Clayton; grandsons Damon Patton, Holdyne, Katheryn and Hailleigh Burns; nieces and nephews. As well as his extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, two sons Richard and Shawn Desormeau, his siblings Jackie, Gretchen, John, Bob, Gary and Butch.

Richard was born in Watertown, April 13, 1959, a son to Jack Henry and Hilda Putnam Garbutt.  He worked for many years at Chapin Watermatics and retired as a stone mason at Fort Drum.

Richard was a fun loving, caring man who enjoyed the company of his family and friends especially his close friends Sid Maitland, Mark and Steve Delosh, Rick Keech, Brian and Erika Bond, Diana Richardson.

He enjoyed a round of golf with friends and listening to the Grateful Dead band.  He also volunteered his free time at the Paynter Senior Center in Clayton.
