ALEXANDRIA BAY, NY – Robert George Shepard, 80, formerly of Walton Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, Sept. 24, 2019, at Hospice of Jefferson County in Watertown.
Robert was born on Sept. 1, 1939, in Rochester, NY, a son to the late George and Jean (Tomczak) Shepard. Robert graduated high school in Rochester, NY and went on to work at Eastman Kodak as a production worker.
On April 8, 1961, Robert married Carol Welsh in Rochester, NY.
Robert had a love for the St. Lawrence River and the town of Alexandria Bay. He was a volunteer fireman for the Alexandria Bay Fire Department. He loved collecting Hess Trucks. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; two children, Joe (Amanda) Shepard, Amherst, NY; Lisa Shepard, Port St. Lucy, FL; two nieces, Debbie (Rod) Heale; Donna Visco; a nephew, David Paprocki; a great-nephew, Steven Visco; 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Tristin, Cole and Chase Shepard.
Robert is predeceased by his twin sister, Roberta.

A Catholic Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Oct. 12, 2019, at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, 26 Walton St., Alexandria Bay, NY 13607 with Rev. Douglas Comstock officiating.
