Robert H. Chapman, 76, Cape Vincent

CAPE VINCENT, NY — Robert H. Chapman, 76, of County Route 4, Cape Vincent. passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home, Inc., Cape Vincent.

Robert was born October 31, 1942, in Cape Vincent to the late George and Olive (Evans) Chapman. He attended local schools before working at Air Brake in Watertown for 35 years. Afterwards he became the water district supervisor for the Town of Cape Vincent, where he worked for over 20 years.

On April 6, 1963, Robert married Geraldine Fields at the United Church of Cape Vincent.

If you knew Robert you knew he would do anything for anyone, and was involved in a variety of organizations including the Sons of the American Legion, the Legion Riders, and the ambulance squad. Robert was a dedicated firefighter serving Cape Vincent for over 55 years. in 2008 Robert was named Citizen of the year. Robert also spent seven years with the crew at the Can Am Speedway, where he made lifelong friendships.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, and children: Roberta Simpson, Adams, NY, and Gerald (Lynette) Chapman, Cape Vincent, NY. He is also survived by his siblings: Barbara (Thomas) Marsh, Rochester, NY, and Terry (Karen) Chapman, Chaumont, NY, along with his grandchildren: Sindi (Andrew) Chapman, Aimee Chapman, Tiger Chapman, and Jenna Chapman, his two great-grandsons: Chevy Chapman, and Hudson Klock, and several nieces and nephews.

Robert is predeceased by his parents, and sister Patricia Taylor.

Calling hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a memorial service to follow, Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at the Funeral Home, 188 Broadway Cape Vincent, NY.  A burial will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery, Cape Vincent, NY.
