Robert P. Squires, 62, formerly of Massena

MASSENA, NY — Robert P. Squires, of Lake Worth, Florida, formerly of Massena, died on Wednesday, June 20, after a brief illness.

Robert is survived by his sister, Jane Ward and her husband, John, of Saranac Lake, a nephew  Liam and a brother, David E. Squires of Massena.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. July 9, at the Emmanuel Congregational Church, 39 West Orvis Street, Massena, with the Rev. Judith Van Kennan officiating. Immediately after the service a luncheon will be served at the Congregational Hall.

Robert was predeceased by his parents,  Robert Squires and Mary Parlow Squires, both lifelong residents of  Massena.  For many years, Robert  worked at the family business, Homestead Dairies, and was instrumental in the expansion  of 4 Homestead Convenience Stores in St. Lawrence County, where the customer was always first. Robert graduated  from the Massena High School  and received a Degree in Business from Ithaca College in 1977.

Robert married the former Patty Forsythe and together they built the All Paws Animal Clinic in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. The marriage ended in divorce.

For many years Robert spent his summers at Tennis Island in Alexandria Bay where he enjoyed golf and boating.

Robert was a 40-year member of the Masonic  Lodge F&M 513, Shrine Media Temple. He was also a past president of the Rotary  Club of Massena.
