Roger L. Towner, 83, Ellisburg

ELLISBURG, NY — The funeral mass for Roger L. Towner will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at the St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Grove St., Adams with Father Martin Cline officiating. There will be no calling hours. There will be a reception following mass at St. Cecilia’s parish center.

Mr. Towner, 83, passed away Saturday, June 8, at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home, Watertown, where he had been a resident for several years.

Born Aug. 26, 1935, in Cohocton, NY, a son of Arthur and Irene Towner, he graduated from Wayland-Cohocton High School.

Mr. Towner joined the US Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957. Roger worked as a superintendent for several construction companies in various locations.

He was a 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus #7364, a member of the American Legion Post #805 in Cohocton, NY., played AAA baseball and was a certified pilot.

Roger married Carolyn Hudson December 29, 1984 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Adams.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, watching SU football, SU basketball and the NY Yankees.

Besides his wife Carolyn of Ellisburg, he is survived by his three sons, Todd (Jill) Dack, Mannsville; Stephen (Terry) Dack, Adams; Shawn Dack, Ellisburg; four daughters, Terri (John Catalano) Cough, Baldwinsville; Stacie (John) Miele, SC; Tammi (Raymond) Schultz, Adams; Tricia Holl, Cortland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Jerry Towner, Frank Towner and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Roger was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Towner Fraser and a brother Richard Towner.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Samaritan Keep Home 8th floor for the wonderful care that they had given Roger.
