Ronald A. Hamblin, Sr., 61, Antwerp

ANTWERP, NY —  Ronald A. Hamblin, Sr., 61, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at his home in Antwerp, NY.

Born Feb. 11, 1960, a son to John and Nataline McMillan Hamblin Sr., he was educated in Watertown schools.

He married the love of his life Marilyn Hoover on Oct. 28, 1978, in Watertown, NY.

Ron served in the US Army from 1977 until his honorable discharge in 1983 with the rank of sergeant. After the military Ron and Marilyn returned to New York where he was a self-employed contractor in the construction field. He worked for many years before he had to retire due to a disability.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his son Ronald and Kristy Hamblin Jr, Watertown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Marquet Achane, Crystal and John Jones, all of Washington state; his grandchildren, Diante, Marquet Jr, Trinity, Myiesha, Andrew, Austin, Marquis and Jaxson; his brother and sister in law, Scott and Tracy Hamblin, Theresa; four sisters Christine Daniels, Evans Mills, Debbie Beach and Gail Carr, both of Watertown, Michelle Gentile, Black River; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Nat, a brother John Jr., and his very best friend and brother in law Frank Daniels.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Chapman officiating. Calling  hours are 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the funeral service.

Ron’s passions in life were his wife and fishing but not necessarily in that order.  Legend has it he was the “best fisherman” in the north country but that may just be a fish tale. Ron was a great man that enjoyed life to the fullest and was an avid fisherman. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
