LOWVILLE, NY — Ruth I. Laribee, 86, of the East Road, passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 11, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.
A funeral Mass will be said 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville. Burial will follow in Old Glendale Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Born Aug. 1, 1935, in Natural Bridge, NY, a daughter of the late Gordon and Louise Morrison Booth, she attended Lowville Academy.
On Oct. 6, 1952, she married Glenn R. Laribee at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville, with Rev. John A. Cotter officiating. The couple took over the Laribee family farm in 1958. Together with her husband and son Gary, they owned and operated the farm until Aug. 18, 2000. Mr. Laribee passed away on Nov. 30, 2007.
Ruth was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church, where she was a member of St. Therese’s Guild and served as lector. She was a longtime member of the Lowville Grange and was past member of Lewis County Farm Bureau. She was a member of Women Involved in Farm Economics, serving as Area III Director, President, and National Trade Chairman. Ruth served on the Lowville Town Board for decades. She was a mentor for the Dale Carnegie courses, and served on the Board of Directors of Mountain View Prevention Services.
Ruth greatly enjoyed babysitting her great-grandchildren Lizzy and Gavin and home schooled them this past year. She enjoyed traveling, dining out with her husband and friends, spending time with family, and hosting family dinners at the holidays.
Ruth greatly missed her husband and looked forward to reuniting with him in heaven..
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Gary and Lisa Laribee of Manlius, NY; Larry and Valerie Laribee of Carthage, NY; two daughters and their husbands, Suzanne and Gary Peters of Lowville, NY; Diane and Russell Baker of Freemont, Nebraska; a brother-in-law, Michael Pelo of Lowville, NY; 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Glenn; a brother, Dale Booth; and a sister,
Patti Booth.
