WATERTOWN, NY — The funeral service for Scott M. Phillips will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. Burial will be held at a date and time convenient to his family. Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Scott passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019. He was 52 years old.
Born Nov. 26, 1966, in Evans Mills, Scott was a son of Vernon and Kaaren (Toutant) Phillips. Following his high school education in the Indian River School District he joined the United States Army where he worked as a mechanic.
Scott worked as a landscaper in South Carolina for many years.
He enjoyed playing sports (namely basketball and soccer), and fixing 4-wheelers, snowmobiles & dirt-bikes.
Besides his father, Vernon, he is survived by his daughter, Traci Weir of Watertown; his brothers, David Smith of Natural Bridge, Vernon “Ted” Phillips of Rochester, Jack W. Phillips of Watertown, and Timothy R. Phillips of Watertown; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Besides his mother, Kaaren, he was predeceased by two siblings, Loralee Smith, William Smith; a nephew, William Smith III, and a cousin, Greg.
