Sharon M. Farr, 64, Black River

BLACK RIVER, NY — Sharon M. Farr, 64, of Black River, NY, passed away March 10, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

Born June 4, 1954, in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of Earl and Joyce (McQuethy) Parody, she graduated in 1972 from East Syracuse Minoa High School. 

Following school she married Vernon E. Farr Jr. on Nov. 18, 1972, at the Minoa Methodist Church.

Sharon graduated from Boces School of Nursing in Onondaga and was valedictorian of her class as she became a nurse’s aid and eight years later she became an LPN. She worked for Dr. Morolla’s Medical Practice in Syracuse for several years, local nursing homes and for Onondaga County as an LPN. While living in Syracuse her husband worked for Marcellus Casket Co. for 15 years. The couple moved to Black River in 2009, where she provided home health examinations and various services for local insurance companies. Mr. Farr is currently employed at Wal-Mart.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, stamping and loved her many cats.

Among her survivors are her husband, Vernon E. Farr, Jr., Black River; her three children and their spouses, Andrew  and Breeanna Farr, Black River, Jennifer and Jason Gappa, and Sarah and Harvey Alexander II, Black River; six beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, Tanner, Thaddeus, Lillian and Emily.

Besides her parents a sister, Rosaland Carlson, passed away before her.

It was her wish to be cremated and the family will have a memorial service at a later date.
