SACKETS HARBOR, NY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of partially decomposed human remains on Horse Island in the village of Sackets Harbor.
A New York State Parks employee reported finding the clothed remains of an adult in a wooded area of the Island at approximately 11:20 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018.
The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified and ordered the body removed to Samaritan Medical Center morgue. Forensic examination will be scheduled by the M.E. for positive identification and cause of death.
