Sheryl M. Horbacz, 69, Glen Park

GLEN PARK, NY – Sheryl M. Horbacz, 69, of Glen Park, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, at home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home Inc., Watertown.

Born Feb. 11, 1950, in Redwood, NY, to the late Douglas and Veronica (Martin) Haven, she graduated from Redwood High School and attended Jefferson Community College.

She was a department manager at the Watertown Bon Ton store for many years, until her retirement in 2013.

She married Robert B. Horbacz on Sept. 26, 1970, in Watertown, NY. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this year. They met and fell in love at college where it was love at first sight. Bob and Sheryl continued their love throughout the years cultivating beautiful plants, vegetables, and flowers together, starting out in their first greenhouse in Dexter, NY, and continuing on to this day in their majestic garden in Glen Park, NY.

Sheryl also enjoyed outdoor birds, especially her favorites hummingbirds and cardinals. Gardening is her first love along with cooking, crocheting, fishing, family, and her many lifelong friends along the way.

She is survived by her sisters Gloria (Guy) Kernehan of Redwood, NY, Marilyn (Reggie) Altmire of Croghan, NY, and Linda (Richard) McBride of Black River, NY. Daughters Diane (Jose’) Pena of Watertown, NY, Cindy (Scott) Boyce of Brownville, NY, and Barbara McCleary also of Brownville, NY. Four grandchildren: Mia Pena, Jose’ Miguel Pena, Jesse McCleary, and Danielle Filippi.

She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Darryl Haven (10 yrs), and an infant sister Diane Haven.

There will be calling hours 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday Aug. 29, at Cleveland Funeral Home Inc., 404 Sherman St. Watertown, NY. A graveside service will take place 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, in North Watertown Cemetery, Watertown.
