BLACK RIVER, NY — Shirley A. Stephens passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 22, 2022, at her home. She was 68 years old.
Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at the Carpenter Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Burial will be private.
Shirley was born on June 6, 1953, in Watertown, NY, the daughter to the late James F. and Dorothy M. Deihl Ellis, Sr. She attended Mannsville Manor School.
Shirley married David L. Stephens on April 18, 1970. Mr. Stephens passed away Sept. 3, 2013.
She is survived by her daughters, Crystal (Daniel) Fleming, Adams; Cynthia (Shawna Galloway), Black River; Tanya Stephens, Texas; Beckylynn Stephens, Texas; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Taylor; three brothers, Charles, Harry and James Ellis, Jr.; and a grandson, Joseph Mack.
Shirley enjoyed jewelry making, crocheting, watching movies, her computer and fishing.
