South Jefferson FFA receives Living to Serve Grant from national FFA organization

ADAMS, NY —  The South Jefferson FFA chapter in Adams, NY has been awarded a Yearlong Living to Serve Grant in the amount of $3000. The nationwide program provides grant money to local FFA chapters to support yearlong service-learning projects that address needs related to community safety; environmental responsibility; hunger, health and nutrition; and community engagement.

The South Jefferson FFA plans to collaborate with the Adams Fire Department to address the need for fire safety in our community using Sparky the Dog. Demonstrating to our community members how to test smoke detectors and use fire extinguishers. The FFA chapter is promoting fire safety at community events and educating younger students about fire safety.

The program provided over $260,000 to FFA chapters in 32 states. The 2019-2020 Yearlong Living to Serve Grants are sponsored by CoBank, Tractor Supply Company, Cargill, Chevrolet and CSX.
