St. Lawrence County: 6 positive cases

CANTON, NY — St. Lawrence County Public Health Department confirmed 2 new positive test results for Coronavirus (COVID-19) within St. Lawrence County today (March 27, 2020) bringing the county total to 6 cases.

All confirmed cases are individuals residing in St. Lawrence County and they are currently in mandatory isolation at home. The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department is monitoring these individuals twice daily and contacting those who may have been in contact with these individuals through an extensive interview to determine whether quarantine and/or testing may be required.

St. Lawrence County now has community spread of COVID-19. Current cases have been identified from Massena, North Lawrence, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, and St. Regis Falls.

We need to focus on slowing the community spread. Please don’t panic; follow all recommendations:

ï‚· STAY HOME! Travel only for essential needs: medical, groceries, and employment. In public, keep at least 6 feet distance from others.

ï‚· Regularly self-monitor your own symptoms. Be on alert if you have a fever, cough, or shortness of breath.

ï‚· Contact your provider if you need medical care; call ahead so they are ready for you

ï‚· Separate yourself from others (self-isolate) by using a separate bedroom and bathroom, avoid sharing all personal items

o have symptoms of fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath
o have been tested for COVID-19
o have traveled back from an area within New York State with significant numbers of confirmed cases
