State DOT to host public information meetings for bridge replacement project in Jefferson County

WATERTOWN, NY —  The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will host public information meetings on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, and Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, to discuss a proposed project to replace seven bridges along State Routes 3 and 12E in Jefferson County. The meetings will begin with a formal presentation at 6 p.m. followed by an open house until approximately 8 p.m.

The first meeting will be held at the Henderson Fire District Building Community Room, 8939 State Route 178, Henderson, N.Y. 13650, and will focus on the following three bridges: State Route 3 over Little Stony Brook in the Town of Ellisburg, State Route 3 over Mill Creek in the Town of Hounsfield and State Route 3 over Stony Creek in the Town of Henderson.

The second meeting will be held at the Village of Chaumont Office, 12175 State Route 12E, Chaumont, N.Y. 13622, and will focus on the following four bridges: State Route 12E over Tributary to Chaumont River in the Town of Lyme, State Route 12E over Perch River in the Town of Brownville, State Route 12E over Kents Creek in the Town of Cape Vincent and State Route 12E over Shaver Creek in the Town of Cape Vincent.

The project is currently in the design study phase and is anticipated to begin construction in 2024. Representatives from the State Department of Transportation and our design consultant will be available at the meetings to answer questions and obtain comments on the proposed project.
