CALCIUM, NY —Â On July 6, 2021, at 10:29 p.m., State Police responded to the intersection of State Route 11 and Johnson Road in the town of LeRay for a vehicle/pedestrian crash.
The preliminary investigation has determined, a 2013 Dodge pickup truck, operated by Robert J. Simmons, 31, Evans Mills, was traveling south on Route 11 when a pedestrian, identified as Amy E. Salazar, 32, entered in the southbound lane and into the path of the pickup truck.
Due to the impact of the crash, Salazar was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Mr. Simmons was evaluated by a State Police Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) at the scene and showed no signs of alcohol/drug impairment.
The investigation is continuing.
