GOUVERNEUR, NY —Â On May 19, 2022, the New York State Police responded to Gouverneur Correctional Facility, 112 Scotch Settlement Road, Gouverneur, for a report of a deceased incarcerated individual.
An initial investigation revealed that following an altercation with his cellmate, Hipolito Nunez, age 30, was found deceased in his living area.
The investigation remains ongoing and the State Police are being assisted by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision – Office of Special Investigations, the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office, and the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
