ADAMS CENTER, NY — Stephen D. Greenwood, 70, Adams Center, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at his daughter’s home in Watertown.
Stephen was born Jan. 11, 1949, in Newburyport, MA, son of the late Walter E. and Doris Wick Greenwood. After graduating from high school he entered the US Coast Guard on May 19, 1969. He received the National Defense Service Medal, and both the Coast Guard Good Conduct Award and Medal and was honorably discharged on May 18, 1973.
On Nov, 10, 1980, he married Margaret L. Gonzales in Abinton Township, PA, with Rev. Frank V. Plummer officiating. Mrs. Greenwood passed on Oct. 6, 2015.
Throughout his life he was interested in aviation. He took many courses pertaining to aviation and worked in the aviation industry his whole life. He was Episcopal. Stephen enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles in his spare time. In 2017 he moved to the north country.
He is survived by his son, Daniel R. (Lisa) Greenwood, TN; two daughters, Cynthia P. (Mark) Hamilton, IA and Amanda C. (Eric) Stafford, Watertown; nine grandchildren; brother, Gary (Maureen) Ewing, NH; sister, Shirley (Alan) Patrick, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with his parents, Stephen was predeceased by his sister and her husband, Barbara and Roger Leet.
A celebration of his life will be at his daughter and son-in-law’s, Amanda and Eric Stafford, home, 133 Winslow St., Watertown on Tuesday, March 12, beginning at 3 p.m. There are no calling hours.
