Syracuse Hancock Airport releases statement about busy Memorial Day weekend

SYRACUSE, NY  – The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) – operator of Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) – has released the following statement regarding anticipated volume and wait times at the security checkpoint this Memorial Day weekend.

The peak travel day of the Memorial Day holiday weekend at SYR is expected Thursday, May 25th. Local Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials will open the TSA security checkpoint at SYR approximately 30 minutes earlier than the normal opening time of 4:00 am (at 3:30 am) in anticipation of the unprecedented levels of Memorial Day weekend travelers.

Travelers departing SYR on early morning flights Thursday, May 25th – and throughout the holiday weekend – must arrive two hours prior to their scheduled departure, or risk missing their flight. This will allow adequate time to find parking or be dropped off, check in at the airline ticket counter, comfortably pass through the TSA security checkpoint, and navigate to their departure gate.

Travelers are encouraged to monitor near-real-time updates on drive-up parking availability at SYR on the airport’s website.
