Temporary suspension of visitation at St. Lawrence County jail extended

CANTON, NY —  St. Lawrence County Sheriff Brooks Bigwarfe released the following statement on April 13, 2020:

As New York continues to experience an outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and the number of confirmed cases rising in St. Lawrence County, it is imperative that we continue to follow the guidelines put out by our state and federal partners.

Therefore, we will be extending the temporary suspension of visitation until April 30, 2020, at which time we will review to determine if further suspension is required.

Clergy and attorneys needing access to parishioners or clients should contact (315) 379-2367 to pre-arrange appointments for admittance for secure visitation, arrangements will remain at the discretion of the sheriff.

The Sheriff’s Office is also exploring internet-based video visitation for attorney client appointments and will update if such visitation is able to be offered.
